BRIAN BASCHNAGEL (WR-DB, Bears 1976-84) lives in Glennview, Ill., with his wife and their three children. Baschnagel is manager of marketing services for North American Corp., an integrated businesssolutions company. He is also in his eighth year as an NFL uniform inspector. The Bears' third-round draft pick in 1976. Baschnagel entered his first camp motivated to make the final roster. "I had a fear of getting cut because I really loved the game," Baschnagel said. "I knew the game wasn't pemanent but I had a goal to play as long as I could:' Baschnagel played in 129 games during nine seasons in Chicago. He amassed 2,024 receiving yards and 2,102 kick-return yards. Baschnagel's fondest memories are of his final season, when the Bears won the Super Bowl. "I was on injured reserve, so I didn't play" he said, "but it was great to finally achieve what we'd been working toward for years. On the bus ride from the airport the day after the Super Bowl, it was 20 degrees below zero but people were lined up along the expressway. I kept thinking what our win meant to those folks:" Although the 1985 Bears were laden with talent. Baschnagel credits the team's winning attitude to head Coach Mike Ditka. "He knew how to motivate people, hands down," Baschnagel said. "I responded to his style because I wanted to win as much as he did. His motivational techniques were controversial, but effective.”

JIM MORRISSEY (LB, Bears 1985-93; was Chicago's llth-round draft pick in 1985. The former Michigan State team captain not only made the team, he played in 114 NFL games over nine seasons. According to Morrissey, his prime motivator as a pro was peer pressure. "We watched game films together on Monday mornings and mistakes were always pointed out. I never wanted to let my teammates down." After three seasons as a special teams player, Morrissey broke into the starting lineup and led all Bears linebackers in interceptions in each of the next five seasons. His advice to aspiring pro linebackers is simple: "Learn to take on blocks. Most college linebackers survive on physical skills. In the pros, you can't run past the offensive line because they're too quick." Today, Morrissey is a financial consultant for AXA Advisors but still contemplates a return to football. "Talking to (former teammate and current Ravens defensive coach) Mike Singletary recently made me think about coaching," said Morrissey. "I still miss the NFL very much." Morrissey lives in Lincolnshire. Ill., with his wife and their four children.

DENNIS GENTRY (RB-WR, Bears (982-y2) lives with his wife in Waco, Texas, and is in his fifth season as the Detroit Lions' personnel scout for the South region. The Current NFL player he most admires is 15-year NFL veteran Brian Mitchell. "He's a running back and wide receiver out of the backfield," Gentry said. He's a go-getter and not worried about his size. He always gives it his all." The former player Gentry has the most regard for is his teammate Mike Singletary. "He was like a mentor to me," Gentry said. "Mike was always positive and chose to see the good in people. Those attributes helped him be a great leader." Like Singletary, Gentry is a member of the Baylor University Athletic Hall of Fame. An all-purpose player during his 11 seasons in Chicago, Gentry recorded 7,129 yards rushing, receiving and returning kicks and punts. [n 1986, he led the NFL with a 28.8 kickoff-return average. "I had a lot of great moments, but winning the Super Bowl was a dream come true," Gentry said. "The key to that 1985 team was that it was a group effort, from the coaches to the players executing on the field. There was no 'I' on that team."

EMERY MOOREHEAD (FB-WR-TE, Giants, Broncos and Bears 977-88) played four seasons for the Giants and Broncos before returning to his home state of Illinois and becoming the Bears' starting tight end for the next eight seasons. "When you grow up in the Chicagoland area, you always have a special place for the Bears," said Moorehead. "I grew up watching Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus, so being a member of the Super Bowl (XX) team; I knew what the fans felt." Moorehead also shared the fans' disappointment when the Bear, failed to repeat as champions. "We were hungry in '85, so we played not to lose am games,' he said.”The next year there were more distractions. Guys were cutting deal, and doing commercials. We lost the hunger." Moorehead retired two season later ranked second all-time in career catches (224 for 2,980 yards) by a Bears tight end-first place still belongs to his coach. Mike Ditka. Moorehead lives in Northbrook, Ill., and has two sons.
